Age range:

The question of what age range this book is for has cropped up a lot, with the truth being that it is not an easy answer. So let me do my best here - If you enjoy playing the storyteller, then it’s a perfect bedtime story to read for younger children. At the time of publication, my lad is nearly 6 and I have been reading it to him for the past year, (and telling him stories of the little blue penguin since he was born.) There are sections of larger fonts towards the beginning, (and throughout) to help engage younger readers, encouraging them to join in and learn to read a few sentences here and there should they wish. The book is also split into 4 chapters with parents/other adult readers in mind - as this allows a cut-off point each night. There are lots of pictures but this is no mere picture book - the story is also quite involved and engaging - so it helps to have these breaks if needed/time limted - the book is over 80 pages long. A few friends and family with children who have test read Little Mook have been from 8-11 years of age, and in some cases a little older still. My hope is that the story covers a large age range, depending on how you use the book, (read to a child or the child reads it themselves). My thoughts are, if a child was to have it read to them at bedtime when young, then when they get older the images may well draw them back in and they can rediscover it again for themselves. I like to think of it as a perfect gateway book for future Tolkien, Gaiman, Pratchett, and even Douglas Adams literary exploits.

Pin badges:

The pin badges are manufactured using 100% recycled and recyclable acrylics, that have reached the end of their life-cycle and are destined for landfill or incineration.

Recycled acrylic (R-MMA) looks and performs as well as standard virgin acrylic (PMMA) whilst being completely VOC and HFC free and significantly kinder to the environment.
Our acrylic suppliers are auto-sustainable and power their production facility using waste products from their manufacturing processes.
